Welcome

Welcome to the blog for Bethlehem Lutheran's 2nd grade!

First Day as Second Graders!

Today was the first day of school and it went so quickly!  We started off with chapel, led by Mr. Haan.  Ask your child what he talked about (a reminder for them: Olympics)!  Then we had a short time in the classroom to get acquainted with each other and with our desks.    The students got their mail and checked out their first homework sheet.  Here's what you need to know:

Hot Lunch Forms:  Hot lunch forms went home today.  They are due THIS FRIDAY (September 2), so it is a quick turn around this time!

Yellow Homework Sheet:  Your child is bringing home their first homework sheet with their reading log, memory work, etc.  This week, the reading log is EXTRA CREDIT.  I am encouraging the students to practice doing the 20 minutes of reading and getting their log signed, but there is no consequence if they forget this week.

Memory Work:  There is not spelling list this week, but we will be having a memory work test on Friday.  The memory work is on their yellow sheet.  Our memory work tests are fill-in-the-blank and are given first thing in the morning on Fridays.

About Mrs. Picker

RebekahPicker
Mrs. Rebekah Picker grew up just across the river in Hermiston, Oregon. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon with a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education with a minor in Professional Church Work. In May of 2014, Rebekah received her Master of Education degree from Heritage University. This is her seventh year at Bethlehem. Rebekah is married to David, who works as a sales representative in the Tri-Cities area. She also has a daughter and a son on the way (due in September). Fun fact: Rebekah is a mirror-image twin, meaning that she is right-handed and her identical twin is left-handed.
